Spring is coming!

Greetings Honey Chasers!

I embrace March with open arms, even with the crazy weather, because I know spring is right around the corner. This time of year, you can find me starting seeds indoors and it feels good to be digging in the dirt again. I am delighted when seeds germinate early, and I am one happy seed mom to see the start of Honey Paddle's flower field growing.

Field Update

Over the last couple months, I have focused on planning all the flower varieties we will be growing at Honey Paddle and the best way to group them according to their water needs, bloom time, and flowering habit. During the dry spell we were able to set up the trellis for the sweet peas and prepare the area where our cool weather flowers will be planted. It's always a race against the weather to get everything completed in time for spring planting!

Remember the tulips we planted last October? The tulips in the field have put on tremendous growth and we will have locally grown Honey Paddle bunches available soon!

We were so pleased with the sunflowers last year we will be dedicating a section of our field to one cut wonders. You can look forward to 6,000 sunflowers and 1,500 gladiolus blooms this flower season. Sunflowers and gladiolus are beautiful, summer flowers which make a statement all on their own and we are planting a large variety to choose from. We plan to succession plant one cut wonders each week to keep a steady supply of flowers available for Honey Paddle's you-pick customers.

You-pick Flower Information

Customers can check-in at the bouquet bar and select to pick 11 stems for $20, or 23 stems for $40. We will provide compostable cups for picking and the cups have the added benefit of easy transport home. Once you have your flowers arranged, we will wrap your bouquet with craft paper, a bow, and a honey paddle. In addition, there will be pre-made bouquets available at our farm stand in a variety of sizes if you prefer a "grab and go" option.

Honey Update

The meadowfoam has filled in nicely over the winter, expect to see a field full of white and yellow blooms in May when you drive by Honey Paddle Farm.

Wishing you all a happy start to spring!
